Inder “Paul” Batra and his wife Uma were the victims of a reckless car accident in California this past week. The couple was walking near their San Jose home when a car speeding around a turn at 80 miles per hour crashed into the couple and killed them. The driver and passenger of the car were also killed in the accident. It appears the driver lost control of the car when he was driving around the curve that has a speed limit of 35 miles per hour. Inder Batra was a professor at UIC in Chicago, Illinois and was a well respected scientist. Inder and Uma lived in San Jose prior to Inder accepting a position at UIC and moving to Chicago. The Batra family and the family of the passenger of the car may be able to take legal action against the driver of the car, even though he died in the crash, for the injuries and wrongful deaths of Inder and Uma and the passeger. The families should contact an attorney to learn about their legal rights and what actions they may take.
